Nature Studies

MASS Gallery is pleased to present Nature Studies, an exhibition of stone and brass works on cotton rag paper by Austin based artist Arianna Jones.  The works are the culmination of mornings in COVID-19 confinement spent meditating along and in the Colorado River. Jones would arrange the stones as a daily creative practice and committing them to paper is her desire to capture those moments and that headspace and bring it into her post-coronavirus world. 

Two years on, Nature Studies extracts certain environmental elements from that original practice and incorporates scale, color and sound to invite the viewer to have their own meditative experience within the gallery space. 

About the Artist

Arianna Jones is a stylist-turned-artist with a background in contemporary art and apparel design. Her nature-based work explores notions of ephemerality, memory, balance and texture.
